Absolutely beautiful and poignant. Thank you for making my day.
Patience is all I can say now. My wife of 20 years has Alzheimer’s she is 59 we r in the very beginning stages. I’m 57 I have learned to be very patient and understanding .I pray to God every day that he gives me the strength I need and her to .We r taking Leqembi
moving.
I'm amazed that the father even remembered the book and where to find it.
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me…
Really awesome thank you for sharing, it is hard to understand dementia or explain to anybody what one of your parent's are going through, my step dad knows my mother has Dementia and I have explained to him 100's of times what my mother is going through but he still gets mad at her everyday. Dementia is a cruel disease and all the person with Dementia / Alzheimer's wants is to be loved and have quality of life while they still around. A plenty of patience, a hug and a smile goes a long way <3
REALLY TOUCHING!: I have read I'm still here by John Zeisel, Alzheimer's from the Inside Out by Richard Taylor and many more, but I believe that nothing can be more appealing than this short movie. It shows, in essence, what this human being really needs, from everyone, to deal with their disease, love, tenderness, empathy (not sympathy) and quality of life. Don't we all?
Brought a tear to my eye
Very touching. My dad, who passed away in Aug 2013 also had dementia. We did our research and knew more or less what to expect. He had good days and bad days but we are glad that we loved him with all of our being and beyond his illness. All 7 adult children and our mother took care of him till the last moments in hospice care in my parents home.
Couldn't hold back the tears. My dear mama does the same as the father in the film. I have learned to become more patient in my replies, however hearing the son read out his father's words I recall how patient mama was teaching me new things and answering my questions as I was growing up.
Thank you for such a reminder, it teaches empathy, something we could all do with learning.
I can't stop crying now. I went through this with my mom when she had lung cancer and dementia and now I care for my dad. Why do I get sooo frustrated when he can't remember how to turn correctly with his walker to sit on his bed or when he gets his afternoon sun-downers. Intellectually i know what is going on, but I guess I am just so tired. Please God help me remember to be patient and kind. I feel so bad when I act like the man in this video. Bless all the caregivers.
Crying as I'm watching this…..I remember the feelings while raising my beautiful three children, and now, the feelings with my elderly mom……so sad!!
A heart tugging view of the truth!
Heartfelt lesson here. Thank you.
